What is a Community Wellness Clinic? There are many different types of community clinics popping up all over the place. In general, they strive to provide accessible, affordable healthcare for all. Many Community clinics specialise in wholistic and preventative modalities. Fees are usually by sliding-scale. Community clinics often occur in a semi-private communal setting. This is the model that many clinics run all over the world, and make a lot of sense for therapies that don’t necessarily require a completely private room.
At the Salt Spring Island Wellness Centre a variety of different manual therapies are available on a ‘pay what you want’ basis. ‘Pay what you want’ is basically a sliding scale without connection of the fee to income. Clients can choose how much they feel they can afford at the time ($20 minimum). The half hour treatments makes it more accessible to people who find it hard to find time to address their health needs. The clinic takes place in our larger yoga studio with some privacy provided by screens.
At this clinic (Wednesdays 1:30-4:30), I am offering Bowen Therapy, Massage and Reiki. Other modalities available are: MindBody Harmonization, Fascial Stretching, Healing Touch and Reflexology. Booking may be done by phone (1-250-900-1125), or often drop in appointments are available.
